Resonances in two-dimensional quantum waveguides separated by a semitransparent barrier with a small window

Abstract: In this Letter, we consider a pair of coupled quantum waveguides having a common semitransparent boundary with a small window, which leads to resonance phenomena when an electron is flying through it. Using the method of matched asymptotic expansions, the formulas for the first terms of resonance expansions (quasi-eigenvalues) and resonance states are obtained. The influence of the system geometry and the boundary transparency parameter on the lifetime of the resonance states is investigated.
