Optical losses of a waveguide with superconducting plates in terahertz quantum cascade lasers

Abstract: The paper calculates the optical losses of a waveguide with superconducting YBCO plates for a quantum cascade laser with a generation frequency of 1.2 THz at a temperature of 10 K. It is shown that the use of such plates in terahertz quantum cascade lasers with a small number of cascades ($\sim$20) will significantly reduce losses compared to traditionally used gold and silver plates.
