Abstract: In this work, we study the interaction of extremely short pulses with a nonlinear anisotropic optical medium with carbon nanotubes (armchair and zigzag type) with metallic conductivity. The dependence of the pulse shape, width, and intensity on the nanotube chirality indices is analyzed. The most appropriate type of carbon nanotubes is substantiated for providing localized propagation of an electromagnetic field in a medium with anisotropic properties.

Keywords: optical anisotropy, extremely short pulse, carbon nanotubes, metallic conductivity.
