Abstract: Crystalline hydrates of pentafluoridozirconic acid HZrF$_5$ $\cdot$ 3H$_2$O, HZrF$_5$ $\cdot$ 2H$_2$O and intermediate product of the thermal decomposition of acids ZrF$_4$ $\cdot$ H$_2$O were studied by vibrational spectroscopy and thermogravimetry. It is shown that the crystalline hydrates HZrF$_5$ $\cdot$ $n$H$_2$O ($n$ = 2, 3) are salts with complex H$_5$O$_2^+$ and H$_7$O$_3^+$ cations. Based on the results of quantum chemical calculations, the bands in the IR and Raman spectra were assigned.

Keywords: complex zirconium fluorides, pentafluoridozirconic acids, vibrational spectroscopy.
