Abstract: The structure and thermal stability of compounds in the Na$_7$Zr$_6$F$_{31}$ $\cdot$ $n$H$_2$O ($n$ = 0, 6, 12) series were studied using infrared spectroscopy (IR), Raman scattering (Raman), differential thermal, thermogravimetric (DTA-TGA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The vibrational (IR, Raman) spectroscopy data for the compound Na$_7$Zr$_6$F$_{31}$ and its hydrates were obtained, systematized and summarized. The bands in the vibrational spectra of Na$_7$Zr$_6$F$_{31}$ were assigned based on quantum-chemical calculations. Taking into account the spectroscopic data, possible structural changes were proposed during mutual transitions Na$_7$Zr$_6$F$_{31}$ $\leftrightarrow$ Na$_7$Zr$_6$F$_{31}$ $\cdot$ $n$H$_2$O during hydration-dehydration.

Keywords: complex zirconium fluorides, sodium fluoridozirconates, thermogravimetry, vibrational spectroscopy.
