Abstract: X-ray imaging in a dark field has found application in recent years in various fields of science and technology, including medicine, biology, and materials science. The review is devoted to the description of various methods of X-ray dark-field visualization. Experimental optical schemes of the methods, methods of data collection and processing, prospects and limitations of their use are considered. Particular attention is paid to multimodal methods capable of separating the small-angle scattering signal from the absorption and phase-contrast signals.

Keywords: X-rays, visualization, dark field, multimodal methods, Talbot interferometer, crystal analyzer, X-ray grating, X-ray grid.
