Spectra of optical effects in magnetic fluids containing nanoparticle aggregates

Abstract: The spectra of the optical effects of birefringence, dichroism, and changes in transparency in a magnetic fluid with nanoparticle aggregates arising under the influence of a magnetic field have been studied. Based on experimental data, the spectral dependences of the complex refractive index of aggregates of magnetite nanoparticles were determined. An interpretation of changes in the shape of the transmission spectra of aggregated magnetic fluids under the influence of a magnetic field and temperature is proposed..
