Estimation of error probability in a channel based on the recurrent properties of convolutional codes

Abstract: In this paper, the method of the estimation of error probability in a channel based on the recurrence properties of convolution codes is considered. The method can be used to compute the likelihood ratio (LLR) of the code symbols at the demodulator output in communication systems that use a convolutional code as well as turbo and trellis coded modulations.
