On the question of the origin of the plastic region in composite coatings

Abstract: The article discusses the option of calculating wear-resistant coatings. The limiting values of the hardening values of the protective wear-resistant coating are determined, which an axisymmetric part is able to withstand without subsequent destruction of the upper layer of sediment. The deformation model for the coating under consideration, which has greater hardness compared to the material of the main part, is the contact problem: the interaction of an infinitely long cylinder with a half-space. The depth of origin of the plastic region has been determined, which makes it possible to control the degree of hardening protective coating in the part, preventing its over-hardening.
