Abstract:
The influence of large scale vortices (LSV) in the incoming flow on the flow and characteris
tics of a model subsonic air intake (AI) has been studied using the modified RANS/ILES(i)
method with a reduced level of numerical viscosity. For comparison, calculations were performed with an undisturbed external flow. The parameters of the external flow correspond to
the takeoff mode and are performed at an angle of attack of 5$^\circ$. The influence of LSV the incoming flow on the instantaneous and averaged flow and turbulence parameters inside an air
intake channel and in its outlet section is revealed. It is established that the presence of LSV
has a weak effect on the average flow parameters of AI outlet section, but leads to a significant increase in the pulsations of the total pressure in this section.
