Discontinuous Galerkin method study on the case with dissipation of isotropic homogeneous turbulence

Abstract: In this work the discontinuous Galerkin method of high accuracy order is studied for modeling of dissipation of isotropic and homogeneous turbulence. The Navier-Stokes equations are solved on under-resolved mesh, LES with Smagorinsky model is studied as well. The specifications for the initial conditions are varied, the scheme for convective fluxes is varied as well. Polynomial solution within each cell allows the extended spectral resolution of the flow. It is shown that setting of the coefficient CS of sub-grid viscosity model can be performed universally despite the tested order of scheme.
