Abstract:
The paper examines the effectiveness of adaptive computational grids based on the concept of the equidistribution method for the problem of transverse turbulent flow around a cylinder with a square cross-section. Turbulence modeling was carried out based on the two-fluid turbulence model of Z.M. Malikov for Reynolds number Re=21400. To confirm the correctness of the numerical results, a comparison was made with experimental data that were taken from literature sources. It is shown that as a result of using adaptive meshes, it is possible to improve the numerical accuracy for a given number of node points by condensing them in the required areas.
