Abstract: We study the hypersonic flow near a space vehicle in the Martian atmosphere. In the frame of the model of a viscous shock layer, we consider the effect of chemical reactions, non-equilibrium excitation of internal molecular degrees of freedom and multicomponent diffusion on the flow parameters and on the heat flux to the surface of the spacecraft.

Keywords: hypersonic flow, chemical reactions, carbon dioxide, vibrational relaxation, bulk viscosity, diffusion, heat flux, wall catalysis properties.
