Abstract:
The two-phase flow of a rarefied monatomic gas and inert solid spherical particles in studied by the DSMC method. The gas-particle interactions are free molecular, and the volume fraction of the solid particles is neglected. Closed expressions for momentum and energy transfer are developed. The method is applied to evaporation of a dusty gas for typical conditions in cometary atmospheres. The presence of the particles lowers the gas Mach numbers in the flow, and increased particle temperature promotes this effect.
