Photochemical synthesis of 3,4-dihydro-1-benzoxepine-2,5-diones from 2-formylaryl acrylates

Abstract: Photochemical method for synthesizing benzoxepine-2,5 diones via LED (light-emitting diode) irradiation of 2-formylaryl acrylates is presented. The reaction affords products in moderate to good yields (23–91%), its mechanism is discussed.
