Abstract: The interaction of tetraphenylporphyrin with sodium dodecyl sulfate was explored using spectrophotometry and differential scanning calorimetry. The effect of porphyrin on the behavior of the sodium dodecyl sulfate solution in the pre- and postmicellar regions of the surfactant concentration was investigated. It was shown that sodium dodecyl sulfate promotes porphyrin monomerization, and tetraphenylporphyrin pre-organizes sodium dodecyl sulfate micelles.

Keywords: tetraphenylporphyrin, surfactant, sodium dodecyl sulfate, solubilization, micelles, heat capacity.
