Abstract: The interaction of 1,1,2-tricarbamoyl-2-cyanoethane with crotonaldehyde in water in the presence of a catalytic amount of triethylamine leads to 6-amino-7-carbamoyl-1-cyano-4-hydroxy-2-oxo-3-azobicyclo[3.2.1]oct-6-ene, the structure of which has been determined by X-ray crystallography.
