Abstract: Adducts of 1-amino-2-ethynylanthraquinone and secondary amines are cyclized to 2-dialkylamino-2,3-dihydronaphtho[2,3-g]indole-6,11-dionesand subsequently, depending on the reaction conditions, are either deaminated to naphtha[2,3-g]indole-6,11-dione or dehydrogenated to its 2-dialkyiamino derivatives.
