Abstract: Interaction of perfluorobenzocyclobutene with I₂ in an SbF₅ medium leads to the formation of 2-iodoperfluoroethylbenzene and perfluoro-o-xylene; perfluoro-1-methylbenzocyclobutene in the I₂–SbF₅ system is transformed into perfluoro-2-ethyltoluene.
