Abstract: 4-Lithium and 4-copper sydnone imines have been obtained, and preparative methods for the direct introduction of hydroxyalkyl, acyl, carbalkoxyl, vinyl and aryl groups into the 4-position of sydnone imines have been developed on this basis.
