Transition from isothermal to chain-thermal flame-propagation regimes in the branching-chain decomposition of nitrogen trichloride

Abstract: The title transition has been detected in a mixture of nitrogen trichloride (4%) with helium. The occurrence of a non-linear branching step in the branched-chain reaction shortens the time interval of the development of a chain-thermal flame.
