Abstract: A nanocrystalline powder of nonstoichiometric vanadium carbide VC0.875 with a coherent scattering region of 20±5nm has been prepared by high-energy ball milling. The crystal structure, microstructure and particle size of the initial and milled powders have been investigated using X-ray diffraction analysis and scanning electron microscopy.
