Abstract: The new copper(II) complex [Cu(IBT)3](ClO4)2 [where IBT = 2-(1H-imidazol-2-yl)-1,3-benzothiazole] has been synthesized and characterized by single crystal X-ray crystallography, showing a slightly distorted octahedral coordination geometry, in which two nitrogen atoms of each IBT molecule coordinate the copper ion.
