Abstract: A salt metathesis reaction of anhydrous DyCl3 and [1,3-C6H4{NC(Ph)N(SiMe3)}2Li2(THF)2] in THF affords the complex [1,3-C6H4{NC(Ph)N(SiMe3)}2]3Dy2 regardless of a ratio between reagents. The assembling of a binuclear core results from a spanning coordination of the amidinate fragments of three μ-bridging ansa-bis(amidinate) ligands to two Dy3+ ions. The magnetic properties of the product were studied by SQUID magnetometry in a temperature range of 1.8–300K.
