Abstract: This brief review examines hydrogenation reactions catalyzed by magnetite-based nanocomposite catalysts. It is shown that these catalysts are environmentally friendly, recyclable and, due to the presence of magnetite in their composition, easily separated from the reaction medium.

Keywords: nanocatalysts, magnetite, hydrogenation, furfural, furfuryl alcohol, benzaldehyde, 4-nitrophenol, benzyl alcohol, 4-aminophenol.
