Iron(III) chloride promoted Ritter amidation of saturated cyclopropane-containing polycyclic hydrocarbons

Abstract: The Ritter-type amidation of cyclopropane-containing norbornane hydrocarbons proceeds via cyclopropane ring opening upon treatment with aceto- or propionitrile and water in the presence of FeCl3·6 H2O as a catalyst.
