Bloch correction in the theory of energy losses by fast charged particles

Abstract: It is shown that, using the eikonal assumption, one can derive the Bloch correction in a natural way. Such an approach allows correct passage from scattering of spatially confined waves to the limit of unconfined wave scattering. The error of such a passage is estimated, and the ranges of transferred momenta and scattering angles that give a major contribution to the Bloch correction are determined.
