Abstract:
The parameters of an electrodeless microwave low-pressure discharge in an Ar + Hg vapor mixture are studied, the design of a UV radiation source for water disinfection is suggested, and its main characteristics are presented. The domestic microwave oven ($f$ = 2.45 GHz; $N$ = kW) is used as a microwave radiation source. The maximal UV power at wavelength $\lambda$ = 254 nm amounts to 120–130 W.
