Estimation of elastic stress in the near-surface layers of solid objects caused by thermoelastic deformations under absorption of nonstationary laser radiation

Abstract: Analytical expressions for the calculation of radial and tangential components of the elastic stress tensor that are generated by the nonstationary laser radiation in the near-surface layers of solid objects are derived in the framework of a 3D model and quasi-static approximation. The components of the stress tensor are analyzed in the systems with strong and weak focusing of laser radiation on the surface of the object.
