Abstract: It was shown earlier that the excitation threshold of electron emission from carbon nanoclusters is extremely low (two to three orders of magnitude lower than for metals and semiconductors). In this work, this effect is confirmed by direct experiments with graphene and graphene-like structures. A new model explaining this effect by resonance tunneling due to size quantization is suggested. A low-threshold explosive emission is discovered.
