Method of video goniography to study Stepanov-grown sapphire crystals

Abstract: The design of a video goniograph and the respective research technique are described. The feasibility of using the video goniograph to study the lateral surface of single-crystalline sapphire rods is checked. Faceting of the lateral surface of variously oriented Stepanov-grown cylindrical sapphire crystals is examined by the method of video goniography, and the results are compared with photogoniography data.
