Abstract:
We propose a method for estimating the plasma temperature in a source based on the electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) discharge. Calculations are made for the calcium plasma for the process of isotope separation by the ion cyclotron resonance (ICR) method. Linearly polarized radiation from a gyrotron is fed from the side of the strong field. We assume that the resonance condition is observed for the extraordinary wave for a small fraction of resonant electrons moving towards the wave. The longitudinal electron temperature of the plasma is calculated and the concentration of resonant and nonresonant electrons is estimated on the basis of the assumption of smallness of the degree of ionization of the medium.
