Abstract: Analysis of the nuclear magnetic resonance linewidth and spin-lattice relaxation rate of $^{17}$5Lu in LuB$_{12}$ assumes a structural transition at $T^*\sim150$ K into a state with a long-range ferrodistortive order of lattice distortions caused by the cooperative Jahn–Teller effect. The reported experimental facts imply this transition to be characteristic of other rare-earth dodecaborides.
