Dependence of the electronic properties of quasicrystals on the nonequilibrium population of two-level electron traps

Abstract: A new phenomenon is detected in quasicrystals: it is shown that the so-called “exotic” properties of real quasicrystalline materials are due to the presence of metastable electron traps with the nonequilibrium population of levels in the ground state of the system.
