Multistability of the magnetization reversal of a nanoparticle with cubic anisotropy

Abstract: The dynamics of magnetization reversal of a nanoparticle with cubic magnetic anisotropy by a short Gaussian pulse of a magnetic field has been studied. It has been shown that the character of precession dynamics depends on the parameters of the pulse. Conditions under which the action of the pulse results in one of the possible equilibrium states (six or eight, depending on the sign of the anisotropy constant) of the magnetic moment have been revealed. A transition to each of these states can be implemented by varying either the amplitude or the duration of the pulse.
