Study of the new two-dimensional compound CoC

Abstract: A novel quasi-two-dimensional monolayer structure with orthorhombic symmetry based on cobalt carbide, $o$-CoC, has been considered. This structure supplements a recently discovered family of quasi-two-dimensional compounds based on transition metals. The dynamic stability of a monolayer has been demonstrated. Its mechanical and electronic characteristics have been studied.
