Orientation of electron spins by the current in a quasi-one-dimensional system

Abstract: The orientation of spins of charge carriers has been studied during the passage of an electric current through a quasi-one-dimensional system. It has been established that the effect disappears in a strictly one-dimensional case, while in the case of the occupation of a large number of subbands and the possibility of intersubband scattering, its value is comparable with that of the two-dimensional case studied earlier and can be discovered experimentally.
