Nonlinear cyclotron acceleration of massless Dirac charge carriers in graphene and topological insulators

Abstract: Two-dimensional motion of quasiparticles with the Dirac dispersion relation in an external magnetic field in the presence of electromagnetic radiation has been investigated. It has been shown that the mechanisms of acceleration in the phase-locked (autoresonance) regime known for classical charged particles can also take place for massless charge carriers. In this case, the energy distribution function of electrons exhibits a gap, the magnitude of which is governed by the magnetic field.
