NONLINEAR DYNAMICS

Dispersion and diffraction mechanisms suppressing soliton self-frequency shift in a medium with retarded optical nonlinearity

Abstract: The frequency dependence of group-velocity dispersion and diffraction-induced increase in the effective mode area in the long-wavelength range suppress the soliton self-frequency shift in a medium with retarded nonlinearity. This effect reduces unwanted variations in the central wavelength, as well as fluctuations of the delay time of the frequency-shifted soliton with respect to the input pulse.
