Abstract:
The article presents data on the concentrations of eleven heavy metals (Ag, Al, As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Mn, Mo,
Ni, Pb, Zn) in the waters of the upper reaches of the Kuban river. The research was conducted in 2016-
2017. Heavy metal concentrations were determined by atomic absorption spectrometry. As a result of the
research it was found that the water of the upper Kuban river is characterized by high content of aluminum, copper and zinc. The detected pollution is natural. Compared with the upper reaches of other rivers,
originating from the slopes of Elbrus, the Kuban river is the cleanest in content of heavy metals.
