Abstract:
Revealing glacier boundaries even on debris-covered margins and, hence, assessing present glacier state more objectively can be based on modern remote sensing methods that promote creating animations of satellite imagery of very high resolution. These data are compared with glacier inventory compiled status mid-XXth century. A case study of changes in glacier areas, lengths and total amount during 1952-2011 is presented for Katun, North Chuya and South Chuya Ridges.
