The study of movie actor collaboration properties

N. A. Mitin, D. P. Shchetinina

Abstract: We investigate the connection structure in social movie actor network of the period time from 1908 to 2013. We search the main quantitative properties of its network such as the degree distribution, correlations and the clustering coefficient. Some of these dependences are found to be scale invariant. Research of small worlds by means of distribution of the shortest paths showed that the actor's world is twice less, than Milgram’s concept of six degrees of separation. In addition we search the dynamics of social movie actor collaboration network.

Keywords: small-worlds, social networks, scale invariance, power laws, vertex correlation, assortativity, the clustering of secondary connections.
