Abstract: The paper considers a sign-based approach to the problem of modeling the goal-setting process and its integration with the methods of synthesizing the plan of behavior. On the basis of the psychologically plausible model of the sign-based world model of the cognitive agent, the GoalMAP algorithm is proposed, which, based on the formal network model, implements the iterative process of hierarchical planning with the selected stage of setting or selecting a new goal. The estimation of the complexity of the behavior planning algorithm is considered, model experiments with software implementation of the constructed algorithms are performed, demonstrating the key features of the approach used.

Keywords: cognitive agent, sign based world model, sign, GoalMAP, behavior planning, goal reasoning, goal setting, activity theory.
