Negative Poisson’s ratio in a nonplanar phagraphene

Abstract: This paper has presented the results of the numerical simulation of the elastic properties of phagraphene–a recently predicted quasi-two-dimensional allotrope of graphene. It has been shown that the Poisson’s ratio is positive for the planar configuration of phagraphene and negative for the nonplanar configuration. Both the Poisson’s ratio and the Young’s modulus are isotropic for the planar phagraphene and are characterized by a strong anisotropy in the plane of the monolayer for the nonplanar phagraphene.
