Abstract: Using high-performance differential scanning calorimetry, crystallization processes in pure metals and some binary alloys on their basis have been investigated. Heat flow jumps are detected at crystallization upon reaching the liquidus lines. It is assumed that these phenomena are associated with the formation of large amounts of local microvolumes (concentration fluctuations) enriched with a component causing crystallization in the liquid. Their appearance precedes the spontaneous processes of the formation and growth of the crystals of a new phase.
