Zitterbewegung in thin-film topological insulators in the presence of a terahertz pulse

Abstract: Zitterbewegung (trembling motion) in thin-film topological insulators in the presence of a terahertz pump pulse has been considered. An analytical expression for the electric current density has been derived, which describes the electric current induced by the motion of an electron wave packet. The electron subsystem has been considered in the long-wavelength approximation, and the electromagnetic field has been described classically in the constant-pump approximation. The numerical analysis of the results has been carried out.
