Crystal structure and piezoelectric and dielectric properties of a new series of solid solutions SrBi$_2$Nb$_{2-x}$Ta$_x$O$_9$ ($x$ = 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0)

Abstract:
Aurivillius-Smolensky (AS) ceramics SrBi
$_2$Nb
$_{2-x}$Ta
$_x$O
$_9$ (
$x$ = 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0), number of perovskite-like layers
$n$ = 2 were synthesized (for
$x$ = 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0) by traditional solid-phase reaction. According to X-ray powder diffraction data, it was found that all compounds are single-phase with the structure of AS phases (number of perovskite-like layers
$m$ = 2) with an orthorhombic crystal lattice (space group A2
$_1$am). The crystal lattice parameters
$a$,
$b$, and
$c$ were calculated, relative dielectric constant
$\varepsilon/\varepsilon_0(T)$, dielectric loss tangent
$\operatorname{tg}\delta$, Curie temperature
$T_{\mathrm{C}}$, and piezoelectric modulus
$d_{33}$ were measured.
