Zeeman splitting of light hole in quantum wells: Comparison of theory and experiments

M. V. Durnev

Ioffe Institute, St. Petersburg

Abstract: The theory for light-hole Zeeman splitting developed in [5] is compared with experimental data found in literature for GaAs/AlGaAs, InGaAs/InP, and CdTe/CdMgTe quantum wells. It is shown that the description of experiments is possible with account for excitonic effects and peculiarities of the hole energy spectrum in a quantum well including complex structure of the valence band and the interface mixing of light and heavy holes. It is demonstrated that the absolute values and the sign of the light-hole $g$-factor are extremely sensitive to the parametrization of the Luttinger Hamiltonian.
