Abstract:
The effect of an external magnetic field on the phase states of a spin nematic with a single-ionic “light axis” anisotropy in an external magnetic field is investigated. The case of the predominant biquadratic exchange interaction is considered. The system is investigated in two possible geometries: the field is parallel to the anisotropy axis, and the field is perpendicular to the anisotropy axis. It is shown that in both cases an axial nematic phase is realized in the system, but the values of the fields of the axial nematic-paramagnetic state transition are different.
