Abstract: Using the model density of states of free-standing graphene single-sheet graphene, it is shown that van Hove singularities cause divergences of the Seebeck coefficient and the thermoelectric power factor. The results obtained for free-standing graphene are generalized to the case of epitaxial (encapsulated) graphene. Numerical estimates are given for substrates (plates) representing SiC polytypes.

Keywords: electrical conductivity, Seebeck coefficient, thermoelectric power factor, epigraphen, SiC polytypes.
